Governments are elected by the people to serve the people. In this regard Tony Abbott and his government have completely missed the boat. Since taking office the Prime Minister and his Liberal colleagues have done nothing except create a series of dream killing budgets and a raft of policies that demonstrate just how out of touch with modern Australia this government is. The argument that stopping the boats has repeatedly been portrayed as a national security matter. However, many experts have shown that there have been no incidences of terrorists entering by boat. Government tactics of inaccurately portraying asylum seekers as criminals is starting to give Australia an ignorant and backwards reputation in the global community. This government has even started to attack our own Human Rights Commissioner. Mr Abbott and Australia have even come under attack from the New York Times.
